Printer Maintenance: How to Fix Paper Jam in Printer

Posted by Greg Nowak on

Sometimes you may encounter paper jam error while printing and you can’t remove the paper from the transport unit. The paper remains inside the machine. However, the following explains how to fix paper jam in printer.

1. First, you should know that the power cannot be turned off while the printer is sending or receiving a fax, or when received fax is being stored in the machine’s memory. Ensure the machine has completed sending or receiving all the faxes then disconnect the power cord.

If you need to turn off the printer during printing to fix paper jam, cancel all print jobs by pressing the stop button. Then, turn it off and unplug the power cord.

2.Eliminate the paper on the front tray if any and do not touch the clear film as it can be damaged. Also, make sure the jammed paper is not under the cartridge holder. Move the fine cartridge filter to remove the paper.

3. You should hold the jammed paper and pull it out slowly without tearing it. Ensure that you remove all the jammed paper without leaving any torn piece. If a paper remains, fix paper jam by removing carefully from inside the machine to ensure safety.

4. Close the output cover and reload the paper. Most probably all the print jobs are cancelled. Reprint if necessary.

It is important to note that when reloading the paper, you should make sure to use the paper suited for printing and load it correctly. If the jammed paper error is displayed again on the LCD of the machine, there may be a paper that has remained inside the machine. To avoid this, make sure no paper remains in the machine.

If you are unable to remove the paper inside the machine, or if the paper jam error continues even after removing the paper, you should contact the service centre.
