HP Pagewide Versus Basic Laser Printer

Posted by Greg Nowak on

What is HP Pagewide?

HP Pagewide is a series of new generation printers meant for business and large format printing. Its business printers like the HP Pagewide Pro 477dw boasts low running cost, fast speed and good to excellent text and graphics print quality. It features the latest reinvention of printing technologies making it more efficient, more cost-effective, more secure and faster than most printer models in the market today.

How much does it cost?

One of the downside of HP Pagewide Pro 477dw and other printers of the series is its high price range. Pagewide 477dw at the cheapest still tags more than $550. However, it has 40% less color cost per page and capable of 50,000-page monthly duty cycle.

How is HP Pagewide different from a basic or multifunction printer?

Pagewide has the combined printing technology of a laser and inkjet printers. However, unlike inkjet, its nozzles are fixed and spans the page instead of printing back and forth; giving each page superior printout. The pagewide ink spray makes printing faster thus, churns pages in single pass like a laser printer. Since the printer has little movement and uses minimal consumable, it also requires less energy and maintenance which in return cuts off the frequent need for replacement and repairs by a significant percentage.

Is it good to have HP Pagewide in the office?

Depending on your printing requirement, HP Pagewide can deliver in top quality in terms of speed, cost and prints. We can say that the series is specifically meant for high-volume printing. If your business day-to-day operation involves frequent and high-volume printing, then this might be a good option to faster streamline documentation and archiving.
